PAINTER
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2. Minimum five (5) years experience as a painter.
3. Valid Alabama driver's license.
4. Knowledge and skill as a painter.
5. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt SUPERVISED BY: Facilities Director
1. Knowledge of painting trade.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
2. Knowledge of and skill to use tools of the trades.
3. Skill in reading, interpreting and applying information in technical manuals and other documents.
4. Ability to perform routine duties guided by standard practices.
5. Ability to take initiative to begin projects without supervision.
6. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
7. Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions.
8. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform the essential functions of the position.
JOB GOAL: To assist in efficiently maintaining facilities in the system in a safe and attractive condition.
1. Repair and beautify all facilities by painting as needed. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
2. Clean, caulk, and prime areas to be painted.
3. Perform other maintenance repairs as assigned.
4. Repair or replace broken windows as needed.
5. Demonstrates initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
6. Ensures adherence to good safety standards.
7. Models and maintains high ethical standards.
8. Follows attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.

9. Meets and deals effectively with the general public, staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
10. Participates successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
11. Maintains proper care of tools and materials.
12. Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff and administrators.
13. Keeps supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
14. Responds to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
15. Prepares all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
16. Follows federal and state laws and School Board policies.
17. Exhibits interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
18. Demonstrates support for the school system and its goals and priorities.
19. Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement.
20. Performs other tasks associated with this position as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board’s salary schedule. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
