Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to assist in the rehabilitation of patients.. This role is essential in helping patients regain mobility, improve their physical function, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide direct patient care, including administering therapeutic exercises and modalities.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, exercises, and home care strategies.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with medical standards.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patient care by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain performance using physical means, such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
- Assists in preparing clinical notes and progress reports.
- Instruct patients in care and use of equipment.
- Participates in patient care conferences and as a member of appropriate committees as requested.
- Participates in discharge planning and agency in-service programs.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of physiology and medical terminology is essential.
- Familiarity with acute care practices and geriatric patient needs is a plus.
- Strong skills in patient care with a focus on empathy and support.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited program is required.
