Chaminade College Preparatory seeks an experienced, detail oriented accounting clerk to join our Finance Department. The position will be full-time.
The Position Representative Duties
Performs various clerical and routine accounting tasks to support accounting operations through general ledger account reconciliations, posting of financial transactions, verifying input to financial systems, and utilization of accounting software. Position will also entail interaction with operating departments on their financial transactions and cover multiple functional accounting areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES (KEY JOB ELEMENTS)
- Supports the philosophy, principles, and characteristics of Marianist Education. Assures quality services to students, faculty, staff, parents, outside organizations and communities.
- Support policies and procedures of Chaminade College Preparatory
- Bank account reconciliations
- Preparation of journal entries
- Assist with month end closing and support other members of the finance team during annual financial audit
- Assist accounting manager with credit card program administration and data entry
- Assist Accounts Payable department with processing of purchase orders and weekly check run as needed
- Processing of bank deposits
- Financial system data base data entry
- Document retention and filing
- Transaction research as needed
- Assist with front desk reception coverage and answering of phones
- Special projects as needed
- All other duties as assigned

SCOPE OF POSITION
- This position may interface with all levels within the organization, visitors, parents and students.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND DESIRED
- Associate Degree with a Business or Accounting focus
MINIMUM PREVIOUS RELATED EXPERIENCE DESIRED
- Prefer previous office experience
- Prefer previous use of 365 Suite, particularly in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
SPECIFIC SKILLS
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of customer service
- Must maintain confidentiality
- Ability to follow-up on a variety of assignments and update supervisor on progress to ensure deadlines are met.
- General knowledge of accounting principles
- Familiarity with accounting software
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with compliance to accounting department policies and procedures
Salary and Benefits
This is an hourly (non-exempt) 12 month per year position.
