This position is supervised by the Athletic Director, with additional reporting lines to Compliance Director and Sports Information Director.
- Position Summary
The Athletics Team Support Operations Assistant assists the Athletics Director in several administrative areas, including compliance, game operations and special events, and sports communication.
The person must become familiar with and adhere to Chaminade University policies, NCAA institutional control and compliance rules, the Pacific West Conference, and NCAA Division II philosophies. The person must be committed to pursuing excellence in academics and athletics and foster the holistic development of student-athletes in alignment with the mission of Chaminade University and our Marianist values.
- Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Sports Communications (50 % of work time): Work in partnership with and support of the Athletics Sports Information Director
- Media and Public Relations:
- Support publicity efforts of the University’s NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports and also help oversee the athletic department’s web page, social media accounts, press releases, and statistical records.
- Review and approve content on all program/department social media accounts.
- Produce content and develop program media guides and other printed/digital materials. Schedule and produce video content for distribution.
- Game Day/Event Operations/Statistics & Program Records:
- Coordinate execution of game day scripts and PA reads. Manage the scoreboard operations at select sporting events.
- Assist in the production of home game Livestream video broadcast.
- Participate in sponsorship promotions and the fulfillment of agreements. Help develop in-game sponsorship activations and coordinate a vision to maintain and increase student attendance.
- Website, Design Elements and Graphics:
- Media and Public Relations:
- Coordinate photo and video shoots and creative content strategies. Create various graphic and video projects to enhance Athletics’ digital brand.
- Facilitate multimedia student-athlete features in coordination with other departments, e.g., University Communications & Marketing (UCM) and Communications School.
- Designs, edits, proofreads, prepares layouts, and formats online and printed materials utilizing appropriate equipment and/or software
- Create and edit original digital content and templates to develop promotional advertisements to target students, alumni, faculty and staff, youth groups, and local communities
- Game Operations (30 % of work time)
- Work in partnership with the Athletics Facilities and Operations Manager on planning, executing, and overseeing operations for home athletic events.
- Assists with game management responsibilities at hosted athletic events on and off campus.
- Assist in executing game day management tasks, including supervising student workers, communicating with visiting teams and officials before and on game day, assisting with set-up and tear-down, and addressing crowd control issues. Ensure compliance with all NCAA, Conference, and Chaminade University rules.
- Assists with ensuring the successful live-streaming of home contests, including film crew, production, and on-air announcers
- Other Duties (20 % of work time)
- Assist administrative staff with the additional workload to in-process new and returning student-athletes from all sports teams at the start of the academic year.
- Work with the Athletics department staff on annual fundraising and special events

- Education and Experience
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum Experience: One year of administrative management experience in intercollegiate sports programs. Interscholastic and community recreation management experience may be taken into consideration.
- Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc) and ability to learn specific sports and academic/university-related computer programs, including Teamworks.
- A demonstrated commitment to integrity.

- Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License and have the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
- Must pass the Chaminade University Driver’s van test to transport teams and individuals and be cleared and approved to perform the tasks
- Physical Requirements
Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and require minimal physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, easily walk the campus, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
- Other Requirements
- This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, additional hours or workday schedule changes may occasionally be required depending on the department's project cycles and workflow demands. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and have a varying schedule when required
