- Position Summary
The responsibilities of this position comprise leading the Forensic Sciences degree program while teaching lecture and laboratory courses in Forensic Sciences. In addition, the Professor is required to contribute and produce scholarship and continue professional development as a faculty member. This position will participate in academic advising, recruiting, and service activities while assuming other duties and university service as assigned by the Dean, and support the policies and mission of the University.

- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- This position is expected to teach at least 15 faculty load hours per academic year and lead academic program assessment of the BS Forensic Sciences degree program.
- Collaborate with local, national and potentially international forensic science agencies
- Collaborate with Chaminade’s Criminology & Criminal Justice program
- Manage budgets, schedule classes, and serve in a supervisory capacity to faculty and student workers
- Contributing to university admissions and recruiting activities.
- Academic advising at the undergraduate level
- Contribute oversight, maintenance, and development of Forensic Sciences facilities and spaces
- Create a professional development plan and demonstrate a trajectory that promotes scholarship, community service and life-long learning

- Education and Experience
Minimum
- PhD or doctoral degree in forensic sciences, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, environmental sciences, environmental studies, physics, or a related field from an accredited college or university,
- Experience in leading a degree program in forensic sciences or other substantial forensic science educational/professional organization(s)
- Experience delivering undergraduate curricula and academic advising in forensic sciences
- Experience presenting scholarly research at professional meetings and interacting with forensic science agencies
- Desire to be a part of a collegial team that is genuinely interested in student success.
Preferred
- Experience in forensic investigations and/or forensic laboratories
- Experience serving as an expert consultant and/or expert witness
- Expertise with advanced instrumentation and approaches used in a forensic laboratory (e.g. chromatography, spectroscopy, molecular biological analysis, advanced photography, microscopy)
- Forensic science experience on an international scale, particularly in regions of the Pacific Rim
- Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in leading a degree program in forensic sciences and/or other substantial forensic science educational program(s)
- Experience delivering undergraduate curricula and academic advising in forensic sciences.
- Experience presenting research at professional scientific meetings
- Experience interacting with forensic science agencies and serving as an Expert Consultant/Witness.
- A desire to be a part of a collegial team.
- Proficient in the use of technology to support both in class and online learning environments
- Forensic science, scientific skills, casework experience or other forensic skillset relevant to their area of expertise
- Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse students
- Must have the ability to create and facilitate a meaningful learning environment and demonstrate a willingness to teach a variety of Forensic Sciences courses in a diverse educational setting.
- Experience creating and facilitating teamwork in a collaborative environment

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), and other programs related to teaching, learning, advising, and assessment

- Dedication to providing high-quality education to students
- Familiarity with educational technology and ability to use it to enhance student learning
- Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources

- Physical Requirements
Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
- Other Requirements:
- This is a full time, exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule
- Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required
