What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Manager position at Champagne Metals?
The Quality Manager is the frontline Quality supervisor on the warehouse floor. They are involved directly in hiring, disciplining, and/or terminating employees within respective department. The Quality Manager should be able to answer questions or go to the proper individuals for clarification as the situation arises. The Quality Manager represents a very important purpose in ensuring the compliance of industry and company standards are met as well as passing on such company information, instructions, and announcements as deemed necessary for the smooth running of the Quality team. The Quality Manager assigns and directs workloads of Quality personnel under supervision of Plant Management. The Quality Manager must always conduct themselves in a Professional manner.

- Assist in Trial Tracker process as directed by Plant Management.
- Participate in the claims process (both Customer and Mill)
- Ensure Vender Non-Conformances (VNC) are properly built and all necessary information is gathered.
- Ensure internal preparation for mill visits to review claims.
- Ensure processes for non-conforming material are being followed and updated as necessary
- Ensure all non-conforming material is properly reviewed
- Set daily/weekly/monthly Quality objectives and communicate them to supervisors/leads
- Review Quality history, trends, and expectations
- Ensure processes for non-conforming material are being followed and updated as necessary
- Ensure all non-conforming material is properly reviewed
- Hold quality meetings with the production groups to review current concerns
- Ensure all Quality processes and best practices are being followed i.e. FLAWS audits, NCR Process
- Outline long term objectives for the Quality Dept and determine the resources needed to achieve them
- Discuss growth objectives w/ management
- Involvement in the hiring, discipline, and termination of Quality personnel as needed
- Take an active role in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and termination of Quality employees
- Recommend and be involved in disciplinary actions for Quality employees
- Train, oversee, and coach employees
- Initial onboard training for new employees and remedial or additional training as needed
- Assisting employees in assimilation with Champagne methods and culture
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and following up on progress of the Quality Dept
- Establishing, reviewing, and adjusting roles to best meet company demands.
- Approve/Deny employee PTO as needed to complete work demand, sub employees as required
- Review demands for additional time (OT) as needed and discuss with Plant Management.
- Ensure the compliance and record keeping of measurement equipment and work with Maintenance Dept to schedule proper maintenance
- Ensure the proper certification is obtained before said equipment is put into use
- Ensure employees are properly trained on the calibration requirement of measurement equipment
- Submit weekly reports on performance and progress
- Verbal or Written updates on action item statuses
- Recommend meetings/discussions with Plant Management as needed
- Identify issues in efficiency and suggest and/or implement improvements
- The Quality Manager should be actively seeking ways to improve their department and working conditions for employees. If significant process change or monetary spend is required, management should be involved.
