What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Director position at Champaign County Regional Planning Commission?
The Finance Director oversees financial execution in the areas of budget and grant management, accounting, financial reporting, risk management, team leadership and regulatory compliance to align with the organizational goals. The Finance Director must be conversant with the public sector legal and regulatory environment, possess a thorough knowledge of generally accepted government accounting principles, practices, and procedures (GAAP, GASB), and have demonstrated successful experience working with state and federal agencies.
Requirements
Prior experience with grant management and reporting, contract administration, professional capability to assess financial and community impacts, ability to effectively communicate options and prepare recommendations for the commission and funding agency decision makers is required to be successful in this leadership position. The successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership, team building, people, communication, and analytical skills, experience in developing and implementing financially sustainable organizational strategies, familiarity with unionized organizations, and a deep commitment to public service.
A master’s degree in finance, accounting or related field with a minimum of two years of public accounting experience is preferred. Five years of progressively responsible experience related to the above duties; three years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Summary
Salary is competitive commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive fringe benefits package including health, dental, life, vision, EAP, HRA, FSA, IMRF, 457B Deferred Compensation Plan, and supplemental options. The salary midpoint to maximum range is $100,367 to $120,440.
Worksite
This position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule with consent of supervisor. The first three months of employment will be on-site. Residency within Champaign County, Illinois, or reasonable commuting distance is required.
