Summary
Head coaches & assistant coaches are needed for 16U program. Practices and home games will be in Champaign, IL. Practices will be 2 days a week from 1.5-2 hours in duration. Each team will participate in 6 tournaments and doubleheader games/leagues, throughout the travel softball season. All teams will travel within a maximum 2.5 hour radius for tournaments. Each teams season breakdown is below. Coaches are needed at tryouts and will provide feedback on what players to select for their team.
Head coach stipend is $500 a season.
Season Breakdown:
Fall 2025-Summer 2026 - 10 double header games against other local travel teams.
Spring 2026 - participate in a double header league during the week
This team will play in 8 tournaments throughout the year.
Tryouts:
July 16, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
July 19, 11:00am - 1:00pm
Qualifications
- Coaches girls fastpitch teams, head or assistant role or previous playing experience, (high school/college experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of the game, specifically IHSA, USSSA, USA Softball rules.
- Able to provide own transportation and lodging for practices, games and tournaments.
Supervision
This volunteer position is overseen by the Sports Manager

Essential Responsibilities
- Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself, the public, fellow employees/volunteers.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons. Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Develops and implements practice and game plans for each event.
- Encourages the personal development and competitive spirit of all participants.
- Coordinates and supervises fundraising activities to supplement team expenses.
- Responds appropriately to participant and parent concerns and inquiries.
- Ensures the maintenance of team equipment.
- Ensures the safety of all participants.
- Serves as a positive role model.
