Description
SUMMARY
The Sports Site Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of Park Districts sports complexes, sports programs and leagues, and operation of concessions at those facilities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to effectively communicate with the public
- Have knowledge of sports and scorekeeping practices
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage concessions operations
- Experience in food sales or restaurant management preferred
- Experience leading and supervising staff preferred
- Understanding of accounting for daily receipt and cash control policies
- Ability to calculate cash transactions and make change
- Previous food service experience preferred
- Must be available to work nights and weekends

SUPERVISION
- The Sports Site Manager reports directly to the Sports Manager & Sports Coordinator
- The Sports Site Manager supervises the Sports Site Workers at the Park Districts sports complexes
- The Sports Site Manager supervises the Sports Concession Workers, when the Sports Concessions Manager is not on site. When Sports Concessions Manager is on site, Sports Site Manager acts as an assistant, when necessary.
TRAINING CAN BE OBTAINED THROUGH CHAMPAIGN PARK DISTRICT
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification through American Heart Association or accredited agency
- Bloodborne pathogen & concussion training through Center for Disease Control
- Complete facility training
- Food Protection Manager Certification within 30 days of being hired
- RecTrac training
- Harassment prevention training
CLASSIFICATION
- Non Exempt, hourly
- Seasonal or Part-Time position
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of the public, fellow employees, and themselves
- Supervise all Sport Site Workers & Concessions Workers while on site
- Work with Sports Manager to assure that concession stands comply with existing health standards daily
- Maintain accurate records of food sales, daily deposits, weekly inventory logs and complete daily shift reports at the end of each shift
- General supervision of concession activities ensuring daily facility cleanliness, equipment cleanliness, and properly stored and correctly prepared food items
- Attend regular staff meetings with Sports Manager & Sports Coordinator
- Check equipment prior to all games
- Maintain a safe recreational environment
- Clean facility, including trash pickup and restrooms as needed
- Keep records of officials pay sheets
- Thoroughly complete accident, incident, and other reports as necessary and turn in same day
- Check all equipment, supplies, and concessions inventory and report necessary repairs to Sports Manager
- Wear the assigned Park District staff uniform during working hours
- Serve the public in a courteous, pleasant, and efficient manner
- Enforce and adhere to all Park District policies and procedures
- Report any problem/concern/issue to supervisor immediately
- Complete all work within the hours scheduled
- Other duties as assigned
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with facility upkeep
- Compliance with opening and closing procedures to include inventory and cash control procedures
- Attend all required meetings
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Must be able to resolve differences and problems that arise with patrons and employees
- Must be able to work under stressful situations (enforcing rules, large crowd levels, etc.)
- Must be able to accurately count money
PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Must be able to respond quickly and accurately
- May be exposed to cleaning products
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
- May be expected to deal with a variety of air temperatures and changing weather conditions
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
- Must possess good safety awareness and judgment
- Must have extensive knowledge of all Park District rules and regulations
