What are the responsibilities and job description for the Processing Page - Technical Services position at Champaign Public Library?
Under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, prepares library materials in all formats for use in the collection by applying labels, covers, and other physical packaging components, ensuring prompt availability of popular materials. Performs a variety of tasks related to the physical processing of library materials. Uses the library’s catalog software to create, edit, and delete item records.

- Prepares library materials for public use by preparing and applying labels, covers, and other physical packaging components
- Mends library materials in all formats
- Monitors inventory of processing supplies and requests restocking as necessary
- Sorts and routes mail and package deliveries
- Checks in newspapers and magazines using the library’s catalog software
- Assists with deletion and de-processing of library materials
- Performs basic data maintenance tasks using the library’s catalog software
- Participates in departmental and library-wide training and activities, including technology and safety training
- Provides excellent internal and external customer service
- Other duties as assigned

- Physical ability to handle and lift library materials weighing approximately 40 pounds and push fully loaded carts of library materials
- Satisfactory pre-employment background check
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Clerical or library clerical experience preferred
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
