The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is seeking an experienced, community-focused, and proven leader to serve as its Deputy Administrator.

Illustrative examples of work performed by the Deputy Administrator:
• Leads the development of the District’s $16 million operating and capital budget ensuring each division is allocated resources based on service demands and strategic priorities.
• Provides the Public Health Administrator with candid feedback on matters related to District operations, organizational culture, and service delivery.
• Provides oversight and guidance to Division Directors ensuring successful outcomes for District programs.
• Promotes cooperation, leadership, and effective communication between Division Directors and other District staff.
• Oversees the management and coordination of on-going data collection and analysis using insights from the data to guide public policy recommendations and resource allocation for targeted interventions.
• Monitors changes in federal and state public health regulations for impact on the District.
• Monitors grant funding opportunities and assists with grant writing activities in furtherance of the District’s priorities.
• Communicating public health policies clearly, engaging stakeholders, and involving the community for better health outcomes.
• When necessary, manages the District by overseeing critical decisions, and maintaining seamless operations across all divisions as necessary and authorized by the Public Health Administrator.
Minimum qualifications for this position:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a masters degree in public health, public administration, human services, social work or a closely related field.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planning and managing complex community centered programs, community engagement, and administrative functions management.
At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a similar role.
Experience working in a multi-racial, multi-cultural urban community with demonstrated success in serving diverse populations.
Preferred qualification:
Experience working with a culturally diverse workforce either in a leadership capacity or as a member of a traditionally under-represented cultural group.
