Plan Review Specialist
The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is seeking to fill a full-time (40-hour week) Plan Review Specialist position. The position will be under the direct supervision of the Food Program Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Coordinates and evaluates the Plan Review Process within the Food Protection
Program for the Environmental Health Division for activities and services District
wide that serve identified jurisdictions, residents and/or the County of Champaign.
• Develops methods to collect, analyze and evaluate the plan review program and
procedures.
• Researches and analyzes information for special projects and initiatives; prepares and
presents verbal and written alternatives, summaries and recommendations.
• Assists in the evaluation and review of program operations for compliance with
federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes and makes recommendations for revision when necessary.
• Serves as a resource or member representative of the division or District to
community groups, agencies, local business groups and the general public.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relations with employees, government
officials, community representatives and the general public.
• Coordinates and provides outreach on the process of plan review processes to
potential food service operators, owners, and construction leads.
• Public Health Emergency Response Responsibilities: All District employees must be
able to respond to public health emergencies when needed and appropriate. During an emergency response, employee may be assigned to a role in either operations,
logistics, or administration by the Incident Commander and/or Section Chief in addition to regular duties.
• Performs other duties and special projects as required.
Requirements:
• Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in
environmental health or a closely related field with a minimum of 30 semester hours
or 45 quarter hours in a physical or biological science.
• Licensed as an environmental health practitioner or equivalent license or registration
recognized in the field of environmental health.
• Five (5) years’ work experience in environmental health and food establishment
inspections.
• Two (2) years’ work experience in a plan review program that could include building
codes, public safety regulations or public health and safety.
• Completion of FDA (FD207) Plan Review Course within one year of hire date.
• Completion of FDA (FD312) Special Processes at Retail Course within one year of
hire date.
• The expected annual starting salary is $57,260. Full annual salary for a Class 7 Plan
Review Specialist is $57,260 - $77,301 for a 40-hour week.
