Job Title: Machine Operator
Department: Machining
Reports To: Machining Supervisor
Shift/Schedule: Third Shift; Monday – Friday with occasional Saturday; must be flexible with start and end times
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Set up and operate CNC Machines to specifications with emphasis on Turning Lathe Operations. Assist Machining Engineer (ME) by performing a variety of duties such as testing, calibrating and adjusting equipment. Operates equipment, conducts tests and reports data.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/COMPETENCIES
- Set work coordinates on machines
- Set tool geometry offsets
- Read/understand CNC part programs. Upload/download programs as required.
- Monitors and debugs new methods and procedures to ensure system efficiencies.
- Understand cutting tool geometry and cutting tool materials
- Interfaces with vendors and outside sales personnel to evaluate new tooling.
- Assist ME in developing new CNC programs, implements their use and maintains program files.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Successful completion of CNC Programming and Operations, CNC Fundamentals or comparable courses
- One year experience operating and setting up manual & automatic drills, lathes, grinders and milling machines.
