The Electrical Controls Engineer is an integral part of Champion’s continued success in applying process automation and SCADA solutions. This critical, high-profile position is primarily focused on design and implementation of PLC control and SCADA data visualization solutions which incorporate automation, energy monitoring and optimization system analytics.

The Electrical Controls Engineer is an integral part of Champion’s continued success in applying process automation and SCADA solutions. This critical, high-profile position is primarily focused on design and implementation of PLC control and SCADA data visualization solutions which incorporate automation, energy monitoring and optimization system analytics.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Design engineered submittals for control systems projects
- Programming, configuring and maintaining PLC programs and SCADA systems
- Deploying and configuring SCADA objects to support data acquisition from field assets as they are brought online and changed in the field
- Creation and binding of animated visualizations of system graphics and operator interface screens
- Create and enforce project specific standards; augment and enhance solutions; benchmark individual and application performance metrics as well as estimate the level of effort for initiatives.
- Commissioning and startup for projects including instrumentation and controls
Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA and AutoCAD applications
- Experience in Water, Waste Water Applications and/or Moveable bridge Automation
- Proficiency reading and understanding electrical control plans and specifications
- Solid understanding of control and process logic, various communications protocols (Ethernet/IP, MODBUS, TCP/IP), and network communications infrastructure
- Experience in FactoryTalk, Wonderware, & iFix software
- Experience writing PLC programs (ladder logic minimum) and basic HMI scripts
- Experience in selecting, calibrating, and startup & commissioning of process control instrumentation
