Here's the scoop - Summary
The Dogstar Formulation Assistant works with the Kibble Formulation Lead to ensure the goals of the department are met. This position focuses on assisting the Kibble Formulation Lead in all areas of nutritional development of products including formulation and data entry. This position is accountable for monitoring the nutritional testing of our Acana and Orijen recipes and validation of a Biologically Appropriate diet manufactured out of our Dogstar facility. This role is responsible for maintaining a nutrition database of ingredients and finished products and using this information to provide trend analyses and quarterly reports. Working closely with QA, this position will be responsible for ensuring samples are sent to the labs in a timely fashion and testing schedules are being followed.
The Dogstar Formulation Assistant will be based out of our Dogstar Kitchen in Auburn, Kentucky and will report to the Kibble Formulation Lead.
What a typical day looks like
- Responsible for assisting the Kibble Formulation Lead with the development of complete and nutritionally balanced recipes for dogs and cats.
- Communication of new projects, recipes, and results to relevant stakeholders.
- Assisting and supporting efficient and timely launches of new products.
- Responsible for monitoring the nutritional testing of our recipes.
- Organizing and compiling nutrition data for ingredients and finished products.
- Creation of reports and trending analysis of nutrition results.
- Thorough maintenance of records of all formulations, test results, and other intellectual property, including storage in a secure manner.
- Participate in the development of ideas for new product development projects that are in alignment with the Company's mission and values as well as all relevant regulatory requirements (AAFCO, FEDIAF, China).
- Consistent support to the Kibble Formulation Lead in relation to data entry and nutritional reporting and monitoring.
- A willingness to be actively involved in a creative learning environment and passion to develop new skills.
- Demonstration of knowledge of the Company's policies and practices regarding health, safety and the environment, including commitment to personal compliance with same.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
