Champion is looking for a Nuclear Reactor Engineer to support the Restart work at the Palisades Nuclear Station in Covert, MI.
*******This is a Maternity Leave Coverage, expected to begin as soon as possible with an end date of August 12, 2025. Contract extension up to October 12, 2025 is very likely.*******
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING/SUPPORTING
- Managing and completing assigned activities to support timely implementation of required plant operations. Interfacing with customers to identify needs and providing engineering solutions to facilitate operational effectiveness.
- Support the following work streams: Fuel Armoring, Ultrasonic Fuel Cleaning, Fuel Fabrication Oversight, Control Blade Inspections
- Monitoring reactor core operation and performing applicable testing, including start-up physics testing.
- Developing reactivity plans for power maneuvers.
- Providing control room support during power changes and advising Operations on reactor operations.
- Interfacing with and coordinating activities performed by internal and external engineering organizations and consulting service companies.
- Supporting / Performing new fuel receipt and tracking special nuclear material.
- Preparing and reviewing procedures associated with reactor core operation and nuclear fuel management.
- Working independently as well as in a team environment.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Focus on Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' related engineering experience preferred.
- Specific experience in Nuclear is viewed favorably.
- Reactor Core operation and testing, new fuel receipt, and nuclear fuel management experience is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Experienced and knowledgeable in technical matters related to reactor safety and other engineering support aspects including an understanding of reactivity, instrumentation, computer networks, and transient evaluation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and priority setting as well as the ability to perform assigned tasks with limited supervision.
Per diem is available for this role.
