Job Details & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor and other project related activities to assist managers in bidding on or determining the price of a project
- Responsible for qualifying and tracking bid leads via contractor bid lists, state bid websites, and private bid subscriptions
- Responsible for submitting and tracking requests for substitution
- Develop clear, concise, detailed scope of work proposals based on project plans and specifications or managers design build scope
- Create detailed cost estimates including preliminary controls sketches, scope definition, inclusions and exclusions, vendor quotes and subcontractor quotes
- Communicate with engineer and/or owner to confirm intent/objective of the project
- Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities on bids
- Optimize job costs by negotiating quantity and job discounts with vendors
- Lead pre-bid meeting with managers to review proposal, estimate and risk items
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to a team focused culture
- Take guidance and work direction from General Manager and Account/Project Managers
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in engineering related discipline is preferred
- Previous estimating, engineering, project management or programming (minimum of 4 years is required)
- Prior experience in controls, Electrical estimating, HVAC and/or building automation (minimum of 4 years is required)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook and other Windows products
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management
- Highly organized
- Ability to lead and motivate teams
- Strong problem solving, planning and task management skills
- Ability to drive to and from customer sites
- Support the company’s mission and core values
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Pass initial employment criminal background checks
- Pass initial employment as well as random selection drug testing
- Exceptional computer skills
- Ability to carry and climb ladders and small tools
- Observe all procedures and safety rules as defined in the company manual
- Maintain a well-groomed, neat and professional appearance
