TITLE: Family Coach (Family Educator)
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Wage rate: $25 per hour; 10-20 hours per week schedule.
Position Summary: The Family Coach (Educator) is a direct practice, part-time position and is trained and accredited to deliver the selected evidence-based curricula to prevent and address behavioral and emotional concerns for children. The education is designed to improve the parenting confidence and skill of culturally diverse fathers and father figures, and is delivered individually, in home and in community-based settings, to increase access to services to the participants. This position reports to the Lead Family Coach. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provides consultation to fathers in adherence to the evidence-based curricula adopted by the program.
- Plans and coordinates delivery of services with FRANC team to assure compliance with regulatory standards and reporting requirements (Department of Children & Families, Council on Accreditation, and curricula organization).
- Reviews screenings and assessments, utilizing program specific protocol and consult with case management when community support is needed.
- Cultivate and manage ongoing collaborative relationships with other CFC programs and in early childhood, child welfare, behavioral health, legal, housing, and family serving communities.
- Timely data entry into participant records and data collection systems.
- Prepare for and participate in case reviews with the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Adheres strictly to policies which ensure participant confidentiality.
- Participates in and supports the agency’s performance and quality improvement processes.
- Participates in outreach development and delivery of community events.
- Participates in related training and workshops.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field.
- Preference will be given to individuals with a minimum of 3 years prior experience supporting fathers and father figures with family support, parent education and father specific services.
- Complete required training and certification for selected curricula, training will be provided if not already certified.
- Manage a caseload and parent-education sessions; organize and prioritize work assignments; make decisions and independent judgments; determine the appropriate course of action in emergency or stressful situations; and recognize reportable events.
- Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Microsoft 365 web-based applications and using internet search engines and other online research tools.
- Ability to work in the office, clients’ homes [TV1] and in the community.
- Available to work late afternoons, evenings, and some Saturdays[TV2] ; be capable of scheduling parent visits according to participants' needs.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is an advantage but not required.
- Professional, self-directed, follow-through on projects and prompt responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders.
- Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented, customer service focused enjoys working with others.
- Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
- Light physical demands: Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; infrequently require lifting or move materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Able to travel in the communities served; must have a reliable car, active auto insurance, and valid Florida driver’s license.
- Must be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population that Champions for Children serves.
- Must be able to successfully complete a Florida level 2 criminal background clearance, motor vehicle records check and drug screening.
