POSITION DESCRIPTION The Champlain Island Unified Union School District seeks elementary education teachers for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond. This position will act as a member of a team of educators and other support personnel within the CIUUSD. Candidates must be team players willing to work collaboratively to ensure all learning community members are curious, creative, courageous, and capable of pursuing their aspirations in a diverse and ever-changing world. CIUUSD is located in the Champlain Islands region of Vermont and is part of the greater Burlington area. We operate two k-6 campuses consisting of 220 students in total. Our middle and high school students have a “choice” and receive a voucher to attend an independent or public middle or high school that best meets the student’s needs. We are an easy commute from Burlington, St. Albans, and Plattsburgh and are located about 1.5 hours from Montreal or under 4 hours from Boston. We seek an engaging, reliable teacher to cover a grade-level or combined grade-level class. In this position, you will prepare and implement engaging lesson plans connected to grade-level learning targets. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ● Teaches all core subject areas to students' assigned grade(s). Subjects may include, but are not limited to, math, ELA, science, social studies, and SEL. ● Utilizes a repertoire of all learning strategies appropriate for students' ages and skill levels. This includes social, emotional, and behavioral needs. ● Differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student and the student body. ● Plans a balanced class program and organizes daily class time to accomplish preparation, practice, and instruction within the allotted time. ● Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment. ● Evaluate each student’s growth and contribution to the group's performance, which allows everyone to contribute. ● Communicate clearly with parents and school faculty/staff on the progress of individual students. ● Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned books and materials to prevent loss or abuse. ● Cooperation with administration and staff in providing programs for school assemblies, open houses, parent meetings, and seasonal programs as needed. ● Other duties as assigned
