The Champlain Valley Head Start is seeking a long-term substitute teacher in the Preschool classroom of our Addison County Early Learning Center in New Haven, VT.
This position is for a full-time employee, working 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday from mid-February to mid-June.
Head Start is a federally funded child and family development program that provides comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families.
We offer services for children that promote school readiness, including early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and services for children with special needs.
Serivces for parents promote family engagement, including parent leadership and social service support.
Job Requirements
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Meet required screenings and complete background checks in compliance with Vermont Licensing Regulations for Center-Based Childcare and Preschool Program Regulations;
- Be at least eighteen (18) years old;
- Be able to comprehend basic written format;
- Meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Has at least a high school diploma or has completed a GED and completes the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals course or the Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate within the first twelve (12) months of employment;
- OR has at least a high school diploma or has completed a GED and a three college credit course in child or human development or in school-age care and education within the first twelve (12) months of employment,
Candidates must also have a commitment to social justice and to working with families with limited financial resources, access to reliable transportation, and physical ability to carry out required tasks.
