RISE ESY Special Educators
Champlain Valley School District (CVSD)
Position: Special Educators (Two Anticipated Openings)
Location: Williston Central School
Dates: 7/7/25 - 7/24/25
Hours: Monday through Thursday: 8:00 am - 11:30 am
RISE is an Extended School Year (ESY) program designed to provide meaningful and engaging summer experiences for students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The program is relationship-centered, play-based, and strength-focused, providing students with a safe space to take healthy risks, build confidence, and develop executive functioning and social skills.
The program prioritizes students receiving intensive behavioral programming, but also considers other students in need of additional SEL and behavioral support.

Position Responsibilities
- Provide direct SEL and behavioral support to students
- Facilitate structured and unstructured play-based activities
- Implement executive functioning and social skill-building strategies
- Support students in healthy risk-taking and self-confidence building
- Coordinating support staff to ensure a positive camp experience
- Use restorative practices to foster positive relationships and problem-solving
- Supervise outdoor activities, ensuring safety and engagement
Manage data collection systems for progress monitoring
Qualifications
- Experience working with students with social-emotional and - behavioral needs
- Background in Special Education, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related field (preferred but not required)
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to create a safe, supportive environment
- Familiarity with SEL competencies, restorative practices, and executive functioning supports
- Ability to engage students in outdoor activities and interactive learning experiences
- Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for working in a summer camp setting
Compensation:
- Employee's regular per diem rates for hours worked during ESY. An additional 3 days of base salary per diem pay will be offered for prep and planning.
