What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Leader, Immune Cell Tropism (Biohub NY) position at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network?
The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York (CZ Biohub NY) (https://www.czbiohub.org/ny/) is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Yale University - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. CZ Biohub NY itself supports some of the brightest, boldest engineers, data scientists, and biomedical researchers to investigate the fundamental mechanisms underlying disease and develop new technologies that will lead to actionable diagnostics and effective therapies. We are guided by our values of scholarly excellence; disruptive innovation; hands-on engineering/hacking/building; partnership and collaboration; open communication and respect; inclusiveness; and opportunity for all.
Our Vision
The Opportunity
CZ Biohub NY is looking to recruit an outstanding scientist for the position of Group Leader (equivalent to a Principal Investigator title within the CZ Biohub Network) to lead our Immune Cell Tropism Research Group.
As a Group Leader, you will be responsible for recruiting and overseeing an outstanding team of scientists dedicated to pioneering novel, influential studies to determine mechanisms that determine tissue specificity in immune cell trafficking and bio-engineering approaches to change immune cell tropism on demand. Your research will align with the Biohub's mission to unravel the complexities of immune cell mechanisms and harness their functionalities to detect anomalies and diseases. Specific research areas of interest include programming immune cells to traffic to specific organs/tissues, designing synthetic receptors to enhance immune cell recognition of organ-specific physiologic and pathologic signals, creating co-culture organoid models to study cell-cell communication mechanisms in vitro, applying synthetic biology to further our understanding of tissue development principles, and exploring the mechanisms that govern immune cell interaction with other cells. The ultimate aim is to develop innovative technologies to engineer immune cell trafficking to specific organs on demand, paving the way for actionable diagnostics and effective therapies.
For consideration, applicants should submit C.V., research statement, and 3 letters of recommendations.
What You'll Do
Essential –
The New York City, NY base pay range for this role is $128,000.00 - $176,000.00. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time.
