We are in search of a dedicated and experienced Research Associate to strengthen our collaborative Mass Spec Omics Platform team. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background and proficiency in LC-MS and will also bring excitement to learning new technologies. This position plays a vital role in expanding our capabilities to generate proteomics datasets across the teams at CZ Biohub Chicago.

The Chicago, IL base pay range for this role is Research Associate = $56,000.00 - $77,000.00, Research Associate II = $68,000.00 - $93,500.00, and Senior Research Associate = $80,000.00 - $110,000.00. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process.

What You'll Do
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve LC-MS infrastructure
- Optimize and automate high-throughput proteomic and/or sample preparation methods
- Document and manage data associated with sample preparation and analysis
- Independently plan, prioritize, and execute work
- Perform lab maintenance duties
- Adhere to laboratory safety standards, guidelines, and protocols
- Meet with collaborators to establish experimental parameters, and keep them appraised of experimental progress
- Co-author publications
- Contribute to a growing body of data
Essential -
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of laboratory work experience
- Background with liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry
- Flexible and willing to learn new technologies
- Manage time efficiently and complete tasks punctually
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in R or Python for Proteomics data analysis
- Experience with lab automation tools and workflows
- Experience culturing primary cells, non-adherent cells, and immortalized cell lines
