Job Description
As an Elementary Education Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and implementing the instructional process for elementary school students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This includes delivering instruction, implementing curriculum materials and educational software, and developing daily lesson plans and classroom schedules that reflect state and school requirements as well as the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the learner. You will also establish a collaborative environment for students, parents, center staff, and administrative personnel, promoting social development and group responsibility through positive behaviors outlined in the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree or higher in special education or a closely related field of study. You must also meet all state teaching license and/or certification requirements and have prior experience working with curriculum development, differentiation, and instruction, preferably in an elementary school classroom setting. Additionally, you should have knowledge of relevant technology, including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
