Job Summary:
Exact Inc. (a division of Chancey Metals, LLC) is seeking a NC/Laser Operator to join our team. The NC/Laser Operator is responsible for taking sheet metal blanks and precisely punching or cutting holes to meet customer specifications. This role involves maintaining equipment, following process sheets, and adhering to quality and safety standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain tools associated with the Punching or Laser Cutting processes
- Follow process sheets and communicate discrepancies to supervision
- Set up and break down Punching or Laser Cutting equipment with proper tooling
- Notify management of any shortages, quality issues or repairs needed on assigned equipment
- Operate pallet jack and forklift equipment
- Read and understand prints and drawings
- Read calipers
- Update work orders and pallet tags
- Update skid tags and moving parts to proper areas
- Use and locate different metals and know how to scrap parts
- Match manufactured parts to flat pattern samples
- Know the quality system, buy-off procedures, AQL, peer review inspections and how to record entries
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the setup and operation of NC Punching and Laser Cutting equipment
- Ability to read and comprehend standards instructions, short correspondence, and memos; including safety, instructional and procedural manuals
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to present information in one-on-one group situations with fellow employees and customers
- Ability to make basic mathematical calculations related to daily job functions
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
- Ability to apply commonsense in understanding and carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
