Summary :
Advanced CNC machinist that can perform complex set-ups using CNC machines. Performs set-ups and ability to proof out first article programming. Runs multiple machines simultaneously. Troubles shoots and guarantees machines run properly to create the precise part. Demonstrates persistence and dedication in achieving goals. May assist Engineering with program optimization. May train others.
Hours : Friday - Sunday, 5 : 00am to 5 : 30pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Performs all job requirements per documented procedures, routings, CNC programs, inspection instructions, tool lists, SPC instructions, and any other related documents and instructions.
- Operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on various material work-pieces.
- Operates up to 4 plus 1 axis.
- Takes full ownership of work area and assumes responsibility for outcomes and results.
- Acts independently to performs methods and procedures on new assignments. May act as a trainer or team leader.
- Advanced skill in performing complex set-ups and make offsets / work coordinates as needed. May work directly with engineering performing NPI.
- Review order, router, job traveler, inspection instructions to determine tool selection, tool holder, machine speeds, feed rates, and sequencing, finished work-piece dimensions, and numerical control sequences.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures and cutting tools using hand tools and tool length off-set equipment.
- Transfer commands from servers or USB drive to computer numerical control modules.
- Load and unload work-pieces manually or with material handling equipment.
- Perform work-piece in-process inspection with inspection equipment and tools for dimension and surface conformity. Makes alignment and adjustments as necessary.
- Edit programs to eliminate errors and to optimize quality and efficiency.
- Perform work-piece in-process inspection by checking accuracy of work against blueprints / specifications using advanced gaging techniques for product conformity. Is able to interpret and translate data into necessary adjustments.
- Works with engineering and quality as necessary on development of product control plans and qualification of gaging techniques.
- Monitors trainee machining, equipment, tool, and work-piece non-conformance issues and coordinates resolutions with appropriate personnel.
- Perform surface finish operations using sanding and deburring using finishing materials, hand tools and power equipment if required.
- Monitors work-pieces and equipment throughout the machining process to detect issues.
- Ensures coolant and hydraulic oil levels are maintained and changed as required. Performs routine PM checks.
- Performs inventory material handling including retrieving, moving and storage of material, tooling, and work-pieces.
- May train employees on machine operations, set-ups, deburr, and inspection. Evaluates trainees and provides feedback and recommendations to supervisor. Assists with the development of training plans and programs.
- Makes recommendations for process and cost improvements to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains an organized, clean and safe environment and maintains 5 “S” standards. Complies with safety rules including PPE and OSHA standards.
- Participates or may lead Lean initiatives eliminating wastes including overproduction, defects, transportation, waiting, inventory, motion and over-processing.
