JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: ONLINE STUDENT SUCCESS MENTOR
CALENDAR: 2611
SALARY: Grade 111
Job Goal:
Perform clerical work involving the following of standardized procedures in an assigned area
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent including courses in business related subjects
- Some previous clerical experience required
- Ability to type at an acceptable rate of speed and to operate standard business machines, including computer terminal
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff and others
- Flexibility to work in assigned areas and possesses required knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations and rules
Core Job Functions:
- Counsel students concerning the decision to enroll in an online course or courses
- Maintain communication with parents, counselors and administration as necessary
- Establish contact with and maintain regular communication with online instructors
- Establish rapport with students and encourage students to succeed academically
- Advocate for online students in working with course providers and instructors
- Serve as the liaison in resolving issues between students and online instructors
- Assist students in developing an individualized work schedule for each online course
- Ensure students complete courses in a timely manner based on their ability
- Encourage and support students as they gain the skills and knowledge necessary for success
- Provide a trusting environment where students can share their thoughts
