Job Requirements
Minimum 2 years of recent experience required. Recent experience is defined as within the past 6 months.
Nurses will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam through RELIAS (with 2 MAX attempts) within 48 hours of receiving an offer.
A PASS/FAIL SIM LAB is required on day one of orientation (study guides will be provided with first day instructions).
Strong cardiac tele background is mandatory, preferably 2 years or more.
Nurses must be able to decrease cardiac drips per physicians' orders and parameters.
Nurses will care for more tele patients versus medical patients.
Schedule Information
Shifts are approximately 12 hours long (7a - 7p or 7p - 7a)
Nurses have the ability to self-schedule; however, this could change from time to time.
4 weekend shifts are included in a 4-week schedule.
Nurses will rotate in with permanent staff members.
No call is required.
Unit Specific Information
The unit has CRMC 60 ED Beds and MGMC 31 ED Beds.
Ratios are 1 to 4.
Required certifications include BLS and ACLS.
Common diagnoses/types of patients include ED holds waiting for placement on a unit, primarily MS/Tele.
Nurses are required to titrate drips.
Common titratable &/or set rate drips include Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone.
The Charge Nurse/House Supervisor is the ED charge nurse.
ED PCTs are available for assistance.
No Vents are used on this unit.
This unit does not have tele on it; however, Monitor Techs are not required.
Nurses must be able to read and interpret strips.
Unit/Department specific orientation includes 2 shifts of Med/Surg/Tele at the primary campus.
Additional Details
Nurses may be asked to float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and CRMC/MGMC Eds as needed.
The scrub color/dress code is Navy.
Nurses may be asked to help with ED patients including vitals, IV starts, and medication administration.
Nurses will not be assigned as the primary RN for ED patient assignments.
4 weekend shifts are included in a 4-week schedule; first to float, could float to sister facility Mercy Gilbert
