Location : Scottsdale, AZ
Position Type : Full-Time, Contract
Start Date : ASAP
End Date : End of the 2024 / 2025 School Year
Hours : Monday through Friday, Full-Time (typically 35-40 hours per week)
Student Population : Elementary (Self-contained classroom)
Duties and Responsibilities :
Support elementary students with special needs in a self-contained classroom environment.
Assist with academic tasks, behavior management, and social-emotional support.
Work 1 : 1 or in small groups with students to reinforce lessons and promote skill development.
Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the direction of the teacher and special education team.
Help students develop self-regulation, fine motor skills, and social communication in the classroom.
Document student progress, behavior, and academic achievements for IEPs and other reports.
Assist the teacher with classroom management and maintaining a structured and supportive learning environment.
Collaborate with the school's special education team, teachers, and parents to ensure student goals are being met.
Provide personal care support as needed for students with specific physical or behavioral needs.
Support students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Paraprofessional certification or experience in special education (preferred)
Experience working with students with special needs, particularly in a self-contained classroom
Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with students with diverse needs
Ability to work effectively with individualized learning plans (IEPs)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Compassionate, positive, and dedicated to supporting student growth
