The YouthBuild Transition Specialist is a key member of GAP School’s YouthBuild team and collaborates to provide quality YouthBuild programming for all students. The position’s priorities include developing and fostering partnerships with apprenticeship entities. Additionally, the position ensures 15 participants in our YouthBuild Growth Opportunities project receive services identified by project expectations.
This position follows an academic calendar, including time off during winter break, spring break, and part of summer break.
Essential Responsibilities
A. Support YouthBuild St. Paul Westside Apprenticeship Program
- Develop and sustain partnerships with apprenticeship opportunities for GAP School’s YouthBuild participants.
- Connect YouthBuild participants to apprenticeship partners.
B. Coordinate our involvement with the Department of Labor Growth Opportunities with YouthBuild Global, which includes 15 participants ages 16-18 annually
- Partner with Construction Pathway and Healthcare Pathway Managers to support project participants while enrolled at GAP School.
- Partner with College & Career Readiness team to serve participants during 12 months of follow-up.
- Represent Change Inc. on YouthBuild Global’s Learning Community for this project.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Community Solutions to identify partners to recruit eligible participants.
- Ensure participant data tracking is reported accurately and timely; specifically GPMS and paper files.
C. Engage with the GAP School community
- Support all GAP School students as they progress towards high school graduation and career and college readiness
- Join team meetings and committees as requested
- Serve as a role model for the program participants
D. Other Responsibilities

Professional Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Certificate in the related area
- 2-3 years of experience working in similar capacity
- Comfortable working with participants ages 16-24
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Strong ability to communicate in a diverse cultural environment
- Experience in teaching/training in placement services
- Experience in working in cross-cultural and urban community
- Experience or demonstrated ability to work with adolescents/young adults
- Able to pass criminal and sex offender background checks, after a conditional job offer
