Changing Lives at Home has an immediate opening for a Residential Group Home Unit Supervisor who is responsible for handling the day-to-day supervision of operations and keeping up the excellence of the quality and standards of our residential group home for youth in Baltimore.


The Group Home Unit Supervisor understands and implements policies according to Changing Lives at Home's (CLH) standards, effectively works as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and supervises direct care staff. Provides direct childcare services, and ensures that twenty-four hour, seven days a week, childcare services are met.


Essential Functions include:
• Provides effective supervision to childcare staff to ensure that childcare services are consistently provided based upon State regulations and Changing Lives at Home’s philosophy, mission, practices, and policies.
• Maintains flexible work hours to include evening and weekend hours.
• Ensures that the staff-to-resident ratio is adequate and consistent with the agency policy and unit needs by providing coverage in units as necessary.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of unit systems, and effectively oversees their completion.
• Demonstrates an understanding of health and safety standards through weekly on-site inspections.
• Demonstrates understanding of the various programs at Changing Lives at Home in order to adequately orient staff and residents to the program.
• Demonstrates the ability to receive, transmit, store, and retrieve information as evidenced through written and verbal communication.
• Contributes to the prevention and management of challenging behaviors by implementing the Changing Lives at Home's behavior management and therapeutic crisis intervention techniques.
• Develops therapeutic activities that are consistent with the age and level of functioning of each resident.
• Promotes effective communication through the timely submission of documentation and bi-weekly team meetings.
• Provides direct feedback to direct care staff through written supervision, and annual and six-month evaluations.
• Fosters equality and diversity in problem identification and conflict resolution among both staff and residents.
• Demonstrates an understanding of daily routines and the need for consistency within the unit.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to complete accurate bi-weekly time.
• Demonstrates the ability to complete an accurate staff schedule, while minimizing and/or eliminating overtime.
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain an accurate account of all unit inventories, youth allowances, and clothing allowances.
• Participates as a member of each resident’s Interdisciplinary Treatment Team for the purpose of treatment/discharge planning and reviews. Must effectively communicate both written and verbally with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
• Ensures accurate medication administration, documentation, and safe storage of medication in accordance with applicable State guidelines.
• Ensures that each direct care staff successfully completes forty hours of professional training per year of employment to effectively meet their position responsibilities.
• Conducts job-related trainings as required.
• Provides transportation for residents as required.
• Perform duties, as requested, to achieve agency goals.


Schedule: Full Time - 40 Hours/week - (7am-3pm is the primary shift), On-Call Responsibilities ( Additional Shift Coverage Occasionally as Needed)


Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older with a High School Diploma or GED, preferably two years of college in courses like psychology, sociology, recreation, or special education.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • The ability to pass a CPS background check through DHS
  • A willingness to work hard and a desire to help others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail/detail-oriented
  • Intermediate-level computer skills
  • At least 2 years of prior group home experience and at least 1 year of management/scheduling experience


License/Certification:

  • CPR and First aid Certification (Required)
  • RCYCP Certification (Required Within 180 days of being hired)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Certified Medication Technician (Preferred)


Benefits:

  • Health: CLHMH offers cafeteria benefits; with cafeteria benefits, we will pay $100/month towards the cost of your monthly health insurance bill. For example, if your monthly health insurance is $300/month, we will pay $100/month, and you are responsible for the remaining $200/month. A monthly paid invoice has to be submitted to receive the company’s contribution. You can visit healthcare.gov to select an insurance provider. 
  • IRA: After 2 years of full-time employment, the company will contribute 3%.
