What are the responsibilities and job description for the Continuous Improvement Engineer position at Channel Personnel Services?
Will be responsible for leading plant-wide and department level performance improvement initiatives that positively impact cost, quality, safety, material flow, productivity, and delivery metrics. Will develop the company’s CI culture through targeted training, shop floor Kaizen program, Small Group activities, and Kaizen Blitz events. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Facilitate Kaizen and process improvement activities.
Ø Works individually or with a team to complete projects following 8 Step Process based on Toyota Production System and Six Sigma methodologies. Provide CI support to shop floor associates, production managers, and other engineering departments.
Ø Design, develop, and implement improved workflows. Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to create/update work instructions, visual aids, and process standards for production operations.
Ø Plan, organize, and lead week-long Kaizen Blitz events.
Ø Train company associates in principles of Lean Manufacturing (5S, 8 Wastes, Value added/non-value added analysis, poka yoke), Theoretical Value Production, PFMEA, and Formal Problem Solving techniques.
Ø Mentor and develop CI department interns (quarterly rotation).
Ø Provide direction to CI department technicians.
Ø Develop and maintain time study documents. Conducts Value Added Analysis (VAA). Perform classic IE time studies and optimize labor line balance.
Ø Identify and troubleshoot inefficient work processes. Perform process analysis, design, and refinement.
Ø Identify opportunities, participate, and complete projects as identified by CI department annual goals.
Ø Perform value stream mapping.
Ø Update master projects lists. Provide summary progress reports for management review.
Ø Champion Kaizen and Small Group programs.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v 4-year technical degree required (Industrial Engineering degree preferred)
v Minimum of 3 years Project Management experience
v Minimum of 3 years Lean Six Sigma experience.
v Or 15-20 years’ experience without a degree
v Must know and have experience with –
§ Time study, Takt Time, Cycle time, Line balance ratio and rebalance experience. This is 60% of the job.
§ Has experience with workstation design, optimum material delivery to that workstation. Gathering current layout and propose future layout using some sort of software.
§ Understand 5S and experience with leading 5S kaizen events.
§ Standard work understanding and experience.

§ Setup Time Reduction experience.
§ Value Stream Mapping understanding & Experience.
§ Kanban system design understanding and experience.
§ Have formal problem-solving experience.
§ Have formal trainer experience on Lean tools.
