What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Director position at Channel Personnel Services?
Position will have 5 direct reports that will include 2 safety managers, 2 regional safety specialists and a quality manager. The focus is on behavioral based safety, being a transitional leader and a change manager for independent shops. Manufacturing locations are DFW and Ohio with 35 shop hubs across the US. Will be a boots on the ground working manager.
Position will manage the Americas region's safety, quality, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Serves as the senior expert for the Americas’ SQE Department and works with Group SQE on global best practices. This role is responsible for harmonizing Safety, Quality, and Environmental systems, which will include process standardization, the development of best practices, and coordination of SQE Audits for America’s Plants and the Rapid Recovery Network. This role will also be responsible for the regional quality team, and transportation programs, to maintain compliance with programs such as Quality, ISO9001, ISO14001, and DOT/Fleet.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Builds positive and productive relationships focused on growing SQE culture at all levels and within all SBUs of the Americas.
Ø Align with Group SQE on group policy and best practices and collaborate with the local SQE team on how to implement across the region.
Ø Lead the regional quality team to ensure maintenance of quality certifications such as ISO9001 and ISO14001 and drive continuous improvement within the region through those programs.
Ø Analyze risk, trends, and countermeasures to internal and external risk, and develop leading safety metrics to identify actionable safety targets and incident root causes.
Ø Lead all incident Serious Event investigations for the Americas and develop processes to mitigate these risks in the business. Issue Serious Event Notices in collaboration with the VP of Operations.
Ø Assist the SQE Managers in the education and development of a behavioral culture focused on safety as the number one priority and that encourages near-miss submittals, and incident reporting and ensures a timely and appropriate response to reports.
Ø Accountable for compliance with all regulatory agencies on a local, state, and federal level.
Ø Manage and control all the company’s SQE regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring submission by required dates and maintaining on file as required. Develop standard operating procedures and maintain proper records for regulatory compliance.
Ø Provide leadership and development to the SQE managers and create a cohesive work team focused on continuous improvement.
Ø Prepares annual SQE budget for the region and manages the budget.
Ø Serves as the process expert in support of business evaluation activities in support of growth strategy.
Ø Travel domestically and internationally as required by the business.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v Bachelor's degree in a related field
v 5 years of experience leading safety teams, and previous experience leading safety teams at a regional level
v Familiarization with SQE regulatory departments and reporting
v Strong Communication Skills
v Ability to travel 30%-40%
