What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Treatment Specialist position at Channel Personnel Services?
The main areas of responsibility include: (1) Water treatment program selection and optimization; (2) Monitoring water treatment KPIs; (3) Identification of water productivity opportunities; (4) Design and implementation of small improvement projects (<$2 MM Capex).
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Utilize water process knowledge, data analysis tools and modeling skills to identify performance improvement opportunities and troubleshoot problems in operating plants.
Ø Identify and correct reliability risks related to water treatment deficiencies.
Ø Monitor water treatment KPIs and correcting performance shortfalls to maintain mechanical integrity of fixed assets.
Ø Identify and justify improvement projects, implement projects, and validate project savings.
Ø Support new project opportunities including steam quality requirements, steam system design, incoming and make-up water quality, proposed treatment programs and controls / automation.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v BS or higher in Chemical Engineering
v Knowledge of specific water treatment program requirements and common corrosion/failure mechanisms in plant operations
v Knowledge of water purification plants / unit operations, waste heat boiler recovery systems, and direct fired boilers.
v Must have at least 3 years of experience in process engineer function in operations or engineering in the industrial gas, chemicals, refining/petrochemical and/or steam generation industries
v Ability to monitor and correct plant performance based on data / statistical analysis and process modeling.
v Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills able to work as individual contributor as well as part of the multidisciplinary team.
v Demonstrated ability to lead or participate in root cause analysis / incident methodology.
v Process or water modeling using a commercial simulator is a plus.
v Ability to effectively communicate across multiple departments such as operations, engineering, business development and R&D
v Domestic travel is required (< 50%)
