What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Operator - 1st Shift position at Channell Commercial Corp?

The markets served by Channell are Telecommunications, Municipalities, Internet Service Providers, Wireless, Water, Power, and CATV, among others. Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connection and management systems, and high-performance below-grade vaults.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Line Operator will hang and remove all Powder Coated Parts form the lines necessary to produce parts for production while meeting the schedule. Take an active role in all aspects of paint production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure on-time clocking and reporting to the workstation.
- Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules, including PPE and uniform compliance.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, process sheets, work instructions, and verbal instructions regarding work assignments.
- Document and standardize work processes.
- Basic use of all inspection tools such as Calipers and other measuring devices.
- Able to identify all materials used in producing metal components for every part.
- Maintains a safe and clean working area.
- Work on developing a process for all new operations.
- Manage workload and effectively use available resources to meet production requirements.
- Increase productivity and efficiency without compromising quality.
- Complete other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Good mechanical skills, use of hand/power tools.
- Good understanding of quality and safety practices
ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Read and understand written assembly instructions.
- Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- ISO sections about the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Submit to a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Pass work physical and lift test
- High School graduate or equivalent. Associates degree preferred.
- Must be able to speak, read/comprehend and write in English.
- Ability to lift to 30 / 50 pounds.
