Founded by the Channell family in 1922, Channell is a global designer, manufacturer, and seller of outside plant infrastructure equipment. The markets served by Channell are Telecommunications, Municipalities, Internet Service Providers, Wireless, Water, Power, and CATV among others. Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connection and management systems and high performance below grade vaults.
JOB SUMMARY:
Position assists quality engineering in maintaining the effectiveness of the Channell Quality Management System and supports continued certification of ISO 9001:2000. Uses documentation tools to identify non-conformance and uses skills for problem solving and corrective action. Executes process control methods on a wide assortment of manufacturing and assembly processes. Approximately 50% of the position will be for cycle counting and inventory duties and 50% of the time on quality control. The Cycle Count/Inventory Clerk requires excellent communication skills, as they coordinate with several departments and outside vendors. Experience with warehouse procedures or inventory control is required and data entry ability necessary to keep accurate and up-to-date inventory records. Oracle software experience is a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assistance to Quality Engineering
- Conducts quality audits of manufacturing and assembl
- Conducts receiving inspections of incoming goods
- Develops training to build quality awareness throughout manufacturing
- Provides leadership in compliance areas of internal auditing and ISO documentation
- Executes continuous improvement of QA receiving/inspection and QA floor auditing
- Monitors and communicates supplier quality performance metrics
- Assists supplier audits and issues recommendations/requests for corrective action
- Assists manufacturing and engineering in the analysis of product non-conformance, customer complaints, and internal complaints
- Addresses non-conformance and complaints with identification of a root cause with root cause correction
Cycle Count / Inventory Clerk
- Responsible for continuous cycle counts of inventory in a timely manner
- Ensure that the companys inventory (operating system data) is both accurate and up to date by continually verifying it through physical counts, correct product labeling, and stocking locations using the companys cycle count program
- Research all data available to resolve discrepancies; adhere to proper inventory control procedures
- Primary hub for inventory information; efficiently gather and distribute information in line with inventory management systems policies
- Once accurate inventory has been established, address any overages or shortages by recommending modifications to future orders
ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Work 1st and 2nd shifts when needed; work overtime as needed
- Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules.
- Proper use of all safety equipment: safety glasses, safety belt, harness, and hard hat.
- Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- ISO sections pertaining to the position
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Forklifts
- RF scan gun
- Computer terminal; perform Oracle inventory input
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree a plus; not required
- Must be able to speak, read/comprehend and write in English
- Experience in product development and manufacturing release a plus
- Experience in assembly operations a plus
- Experience with engineering documentation released to manufacturing a plus
- Working knowledge of statistical techniques and tools a plus
- Demonstrated auditing and problem-solving skills a plus
- Working knowledge in spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software
