POSITION SUMMARY
The Dining Room Attendant works to provide and excellent dining experience for residents by providing bread, water and refills, removing tableware between courses, and cleaning and resetting tables after residents leave. Together with the entire team at Channing House, your role contributes to promoting a healthy and vibrant home for our residents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Service Responsibilities – 85% of job duties
- Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
- Deliver room service meals to a guest apartment or a designated location.
- Assist in running food from the kitchen to the dining room.
- Assist the server to remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for the next course.
- Carry food, dishes, trays, or silverware from kitchens or supply areas to serving counters.
- Take soiled tableware to the designated area, and unload sort, and stack silverware, dishes, and glassware.
- Fill beverage or ice dispensers.
- Wash/load dishes in the station dishwasher for both bussing stations. Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed, or as directed by supervisor.
- Maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, or trays.
- Clean up spilled food or drink or broken dishes and remove the trash.
- Clean and sanitize counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in food service areas.
- Communicate with server and host to expedite efficient seating, table utilization, and customer service.
- Obtain service area assignments at the beginning & end of each shift.
- Fill in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Training and Policy Adherence – 15% of job duties:
- Ensure compliance with various licensing and regulatory agencies, including but not limited to: Santa Clara County Department of Health, CDPH, CDSS, CalOSHA, etc.
- Attend all allergy and food-borne illness in-service training.
- Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
- Attend training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Years of Related Professional Experience:
- No experience necessary.
Educational/Position Requirements:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
Computer/Software/Technical Applications:
- Ability to use a computer preferred.
Languages:
- Ability to speak and comprehend English the primary language used in the workplace; ability to speak and/or comprehend other languages utilized by clients is a plus.
Required Licenses/ Certifications/ Background:
- Must possess or be able to obtain a California Food Handler’s Card.
- ServSafe certification preferred
- CPR certification preferred
