Chaparral is looking for a Regional Safety Manager. The Safety Manager will be responsible for managing, implementing, and enforcing safety standards, policies, and programs across multiple construction projects in the Southeast region, including NC, SC, TN, GA, and AL. The Regional Safety Manager is a 50/50 field and office-based position responsible for overseeing safety initiatives and compliance for the designated region. This role involves implementing safety programs, conducting audits, providing training, and promoting a culture of safety. Collaborates closely with Project managers, employees, contractors, and corporate safety to ensure adherence to safety regulations, mitigate risks, injury and incident management, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
Position Description
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, programs, standards, and design criteria that impact construction safety on all assigned projects.
- Function as the Safety Professional on assigned construction projects, performing standardized safety and quality assessments to ensure all sites meet company and regulatory standards.
- Oversee construction processes to confirm compliance with approved designs, document quality issues, and ensure timely communication and resolution of any safety or quality concerns.
- Identify and assess potential risks on each job site and develop, implement, and update safety protocols as necessary to reduce those risks.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions to keep team members current on safety standards and protocols. Hold daily site inspections, checking for hazards in tools, machinery, and other site equipment.
- Prepare and submit weekly safety reports documenting site conditions, updated safety plans, and any worker concerns. Report all safety incidents and update mitigation plans as needed.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and write comprehensive reports on safety incidents and updates to risk mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with all branch staff to help promote and enforce safety culture.
Requirements
- Five-year minimum experience in a safety related position
- Bi-Lingual Spanish/English is required
- OSHA 500 recommended or willing to acquire
- Good organizational skills and leadership ability.
- Proficient in using computer software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent people skills.
- Must have the availability to travel up to 40% of the time by car, airplane and other means to locations anywhere in the United States when needed. Location: North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama (with required travel to project sites within these states)
