Summer Camp Counselors:
Monday-Friday June 9th through August 15th 8am-2pm or 4pm depending on need and availability. However, you don’t need to be available every day for the whole summer, we schedule staff based on availability so people rotate and work when appropriate.
Position Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals with a passion for horses to join us as Youth Horseback Riding Camp Counselors. In this role, you will guide and supervise campers during their horseback riding activities, fostering a positive and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities:
1. Specific responsibilities include working with children aged 6-13, teaching basic horse safety and skills like grooming, leading, tacking, basic horse information like parts of body or colors, leading or supervising camp games, leading short hikes.
- Camp Program Implementation:
- Assist in the planning and execution of horseback riding activities and lessons for campers.
- Provide guidance and instruction on basic horsemanship skills, grooming, and riding techniques.
- Supervision and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during all horse-related activities.
- Supervise campers during horseback riding sessions, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Youth Engagement:
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for campers to learn and enjoy their horseback riding experience.
- Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and positive communication among campers.
- Horse Care:
- Assist in the care and grooming of camp horses.
- Teach campers the basics of horse care and responsible horsemanship.
- Communication:
- Effectively communicate with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Provide regular feedback to campers on their progress and achievements.
Qualifications:
- General experience working with youth in a camp or educational setting.
- Knowledge of basic horse care and riding principles (previous horse experience is preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be 16 years-old or older OR 15 years-old with a work permit.
Working Conditions: This is a seasonal position during the summer camp period. The work involves outdoor activities, and counselors should be prepared to work in various weather conditions. Weekend availability may be required.
Salary : $18 - $22
