The Role:

Maintenance Technician II performs a variety of routine skilled maintenance for Chapel Haven facilities, including, but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping. Maintenance Technician II will be responsible for prioritizing, tracking and coordinating on-line maintenance requests in a timely manner. Maintenance Technician II maintains fleet, ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in safe and clean conditions. Maintenance Technician II coordinates scheduled coverage for custodial responsibilities. This role requires a proactive, energetic individual who can handle various maintenance tasks and prioritize work efficiently.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Completes repairs as needed including plumbing, painting, electrical, and carpentry. Monitor and respond to on-line facilities service requests in WorxHub system
  • Monitors and prioritizes on-line maintenance and facilities requests.
  • Prepares purchase order requisition for Director of Facilities.
  • Oversees general grounds-keeping as directed by Facilities Manager including lawn and garden maintenance, and snow removal when necessary.
  • On-call for urgent facilities requests evenings and weekends
  • Immediately recognizes potential hazards or warning signs of problems and ensures that all jobs are completed in an exemplary and timely manner.
  • Assist with maintaining agency vehicles, including scheduling, cleaning/maintenance, oil changes, repairs, emissions, registration, safety inspections, collecting mileage logs, etc.
  • Assembles, repairs, maintains, and moves furniture, such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings and fixtures.
  • Assists with Chapel Haven special events (i.e., open houses, graduations, etc.), as needed.
  • Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to Facilities Manager.
  • Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Ensures all Chapel Haven facilities comply with OSHA, CARF, DDS, Health Department, Building Department, and Fire Marshall Safety standards.
  • Monitors custodial coverage for 5 buildings and reassigns as necessary.
  • Monitors inventory.
  • Attends mandatory Chapel Haven training and all agency meetings.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 5 years' work experience including mechanical, plumbing, electrical.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete assigned duties within a specified period.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective judgment and decision-making skills; possess a keen sense of initiative.
  • Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments.
  • Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including snow blowers, lawnmowers, small hand tools and power tools.
  • Compassion/patience for individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong people skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize daily maintenance list
  • Basic computer skills: email, calendar, Microsoft Word to complete forms and maintenance request software
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid CT Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
  • Use of own vehicle as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to participate in physical activity.
  • Ability to climb, lift, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to do moderate bending, lifting, and standing on a regular basis.
  • This job requires the ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
