Athletic and Activities Development Coordinator
Reports To: Principal / Athletic Director
Position Summary:
The Athletic and Activities Development Coordinator will lead the planning, development, and implementation of athletic programs, events, and extracurricular activities to enhance students' physical, mental, and social well-being. This individual will work closely with students, staff, and the community to ensure successful participation in school sports and activities while fostering an inclusive, safe, and positive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Management:
- Support school leadership in developing, organizing, assisting athletic programs and extracurricular activities.
- Work with staff to facilitate communication and guidance for students regarding their future education and career opportunities.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including reports and other responsibilities, as needed.
Student Engagement:
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement in extracurricular activities.
- Support students in planning for their future academic and extracurricular opportunities while recognizing their achievements.
- Encourage leadership growth through participation in sports, clubs, and team-based activities.
- Assist in organizing school events that celebrate student involvement and accomplishments.
- Develop and implement creative strategies to enhance communication and transitions between different educational and youth levels.
Administrative Support:
- Support the supervision of school events and activities.
- Assist with maintaining and updating relevant records related to student involvement.
- Manage communication and outreach efforts, including sharing updates and recognition through various platforms.
Staff Support and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with staff to ensure programs support student development and overall learning objectives.
- Assist in recruiting and coordinating personnel to support school and community activities.
Community and Parental Relations:
- Act as a key point of contact for families and community members regarding school activities and facility use.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between stakeholders to enhance extracurricular programs. (Example Athletic/Activity Site Council)
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners to support school initiatives and student involvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Master’s Educational Administration Degree preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in athletics, program development, or school activities coordination is preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for promoting student development through athletics and extracurricular activities.
- Strong background or desire to learn about social media and other promotional technology.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry athletic equipment as needed.
- Comfortable supervising physical activities in various weather conditions.
- Willing to work weekends, evenings or adapt to a flexible schedule.
