The Or Initiative at Chapman University is a new program dedicated to fostering civil discourse among middle school, high school, and college students, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East conflict, combating antisemitism, and other politically contentious issues. By leveraging empirical research, evidence-based curriculum development, high-quality teaching, and community engagement, the Or Initiative aims to equip educators, students, and communities with the communicative tools they need to address divisive issues constructively and promote meaningful inclusivity.The Assistant Director of the Or Initiative will play a pivotal role in advancing its mission. The position involves leading research initiatives with students and teachers, in addition to collaboratively creating impactful resources and developing and convening programs. This position also involves managing foundation reporting, project management, and obtaining institutional clearances for academic and communications research and programming.This is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days per week in-office in Orange, CA (at Chapman University’s main campus) and/or at field sites in Orange County middle and high schools.This position is annually renewable for a minimum of five years.
