Overview
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented paralegal/legal assistant or financial assistant to join our team as a Bankruptcy Case Manager. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to exercise judgment within limits, an understanding of legal and financial terminology, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and adaptability as laws and procedures change.
Responsibilities
- Review consumer bankruptcy case filings;
- Analyze supporting legal and financial documents to assess completeness and accuracy of bankruptcy filings;
- Identify issues that warrant further review;
- Prepare notes for use by staff attorneys at hearings;
- Draft reports and other pleadings;
- Prepare and examine worksheets relating to financial transactions in a case;
- Be responsible for monitoring ongoing activity in cases;
- Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Legal or accounting education or experience.
- Familiarity with legal and financial terminology.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in office software applications.
- Ability to learn specialized software applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to exercise judgment in appropriate circumstances.
- Attention to detail; ability to accept and apply changes to procedures.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of consumer bankruptcy law and practice is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.03 - $26.86 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
