What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Safety Sanitation Manager position at Charcuterie Artisans?
The position will lead the design, implementation, and ongoing compliance of the Charcuterie Artisans Sanitation Management System. Provide technical support to the facility on sanitation and food safety microbiology principles and issue resolution and corrective actions. Work with our internal partners (operations, logistics, maintenance) to ensure compliance with USDA, our internal and customer specific food safety and sanitation requirements. Active member of the HACCP/Food Safety team and ensures full compliance to all GFSI (i.e. SQF) requirements related to sanitation and pathogen environmental monitoring.
\n- Manage, lead, and coordinate continuous improvement efforts and programs related to food safety and sanitation processes and systems, including defining performance measures.
- Develop and implement technical plans, clearly defining the critical issues and approach to be used in resolving food safety and sanitation issues.
- Management of two facility’s Pathogen Environmental Monitoring Program including written program requirements, swabbing execution, mitigation activities, tracking/trending, communication, and all continuous improvement efforts related to this program.
- Support the management and auditing of the HACCP/Food Safety Program.
- Support the new product development process in conjunction with the FSQA Manager to ensure all food safety (allergen/micro) and sanitation program requirements are maintained and accurate.
- Provide food safety and sanitation expertise to our internal teams and determine food safety and quality requirements and recommendations ensuring full compliance to regulatory and customer requirements.
- Lead Sanitation training program development and execution.
- Ensure all chemicals and lubricants used comply with our Chemical Control program.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and sanitation SOPs in compliance with USDA, HACCP, GMPs, and SSOP requirements.
- Ensure daily and pre-operational inspections are conducted and documented for sanitary conditions, with corrective actions as necessary.
- Liaison to the USDA, primary communication and point of contact.
- Drives USDA non-conformance (NRs) corrective actions
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for sanitation-related deviations, environmental positives, or food safety concerns.
- Maintain and audit sanitation records for compliance and traceability.
- Validate and verify sanitation effectiveness through ATP swabbing, microbiological sampling, and other environmental monitoring programs.
- Manage chemical usage and inventory; ensure proper handling, mixing, and application of cleaning agents and sanitizers.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college, university or technical college; or seven years direct sanitation experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- HACCP Certification expected
- Sanitary Design training preferred
- GFSI (preferably SQF and/or BRC) training/certification preferred
- Working knowledge of regulatory compliance and food safety standards
- Solid experience in inspection/auditing and wet sanitation
- Willingness to work on all shifts as needed.
- Thorough understanding of food safety science and principles including microbiological food safety risks and corrective actions.
Salary : $85,000 - $90,000
