SURGICAL TECH-OR
Full-time or part-time position located at the Chardon Surgery Center
Position Purpose
Assists surgical team during operative procedures. Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the operating team. Assists in preparing and moving patients, and in cleaning the operating theater. The OR Tech is responsible for the provision of surgical care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Interpersonal Relationships
As a representative of FACILITY, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct affect on the facility's image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork congruent with facility standards and guidelines to promote positive relations and set an example for the staff.
Position Requirements
Licenses or Certifications : Successful completion of Operating Room Technician program. Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course preferred.
Education, Vocational Training and Experience
Successful completion of Operating Room Technician program.
Experience
Minimum 1 year experience in surgical assisting preferred.

Assists the Registered Nurse with patient discharges.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
Work is indoors in climate-controlled environment. Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids that may carry infection, to infectious disease, and to chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and feel objects. Ability to climb, pull, push, and kneel. Ability to push a gurney with 150 lb. patient. Maximum unassisted lift = over 100 lbs. Ability to wear lead apron and push heavy equipment.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO POSITION :
Minimal. Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
