POSITION:
Teacher Assistant - Round Lake Education Center
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in a related field or commensurate experience
- 1-3 years’ working with students preferred
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the Transition Room
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional help
- Collaborate with the Director and Teacher to establish and maintain a positive learning environment
- Help to manage student behavior
- Supervise students as needed during classroom activities, breaks, lunch, and field trips
- Perform clerical tasks as needed
- Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall functioning of the school
- Predictable, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Other responsibilities as assigned at the direction of the RLEC Director, Teacher, or Director of Instructional Services

The Round Lake Education Center (RLEC) is a high school serving adjudicated students in grades 9-12. The RLEC is run through a strong partnership between the Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District (Char-Em ISD) and the Charlevoix County Probate and Family Court. Students attending RLEC come primarily from the school districts of Boyne City, Boyne Falls, Charlevoix, East Jordan, and Ellsworth.
As a Teacher Assistant, you'll play a pivotal role in providing support and guidance to students navigating challenging circumstances. You will collaborate closely with the teacher, director, and a variety of ISD and court staff to create a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere conducive to academic success and personal growth. Your responsibilities may include providing one-on-one assistance to students, facilitating group activities, and implementing educational strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Moreover, you'll serve as a mentor and advocate, offering encouragement and guidance to help students overcome obstacles and realize their full potential. This role not only involves academic support but also embraces the opportunity to instill resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging in each student, empowering them to thrive academically and beyond.
