What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Counselor position at Charis Behavioral Health?
Charis is looking for a new Program Counselor!!
The Ideal Candidate:
Provide patient treatment utilizing evidence-based therapies in group, individual, and family settings for patients suffering from psychiatric and substance abuse issues in a way that adheres to CBH Core Values and provides the best opportunity for positive patient outcomes.
Strategic Work Responsibilities
- Utilize specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conditions and addictions, including severe mental illness and serious emotional disturbances in children and adolescents.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions to conduct individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
- Display active involvement in treatment planning process
- Actively Work with and actively communicate to the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review, and nursing staff members.
- Actively and proactively communicate with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
- Exercise appropriate judgment in answering questions and releasing information; analyze and project consequences of decisions and/or recommendations
Tactical Work Responsibilities
- Conduct Biopsychosocial Assessment with patient and family to determine appropriate level of care utilizing clinical skills.
- Develop comprehensive and individualized treatment plans and treatment plan updates in collaboration with the patient and family.
- Effectively communicate to Utilization Review staff regarding patient progress towards treatment plan
- Perform crisis intervention and de-escalation using appropriate skills and work as a team when a crisis occurs, assisting others to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with parent/guardian
- Complete all documentation and paperwork in a timely, accurate, and complete manner in compliance with state, payor and accrediting board regulations.
- Assist care coordination/therapeutic assistant staff as requested.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly treatment team meetings, daily staff meetings, and monthly all staff meetings to provide most current progress and collaborate on continued care.
Position Specific Standards:
- Maintains a current, unencumbered Texas license such as LMSW, LPC, LMFT to provide clinical services.
- Complete all documentation thoroughly, timely, and in accordance with Company standards
- Display a thorough knowledge of confidentiality and patient’s rights.
- Has a working knowledge of all clinical regulations
Qualifications:
- Education – Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or relevant field of study
- Experience – Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients
- License – Current, unencumbered clinical license per state of practice guidelines
