What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant Coordinator - Queens position at Charles B. Wang Community Health Center?
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and recruit dental assistants
- Formulate monthly working schedule and assign day-to-day job responsibilities to dental assistants in accordance to dentists' schedule
- Maintain and update dental assistants' clinical protocol
- Ensure dental supplies are replenished on a timely manner
- Teach basic routine oral health education to our patients and community members via outreach events
- Perform day-to-day function of a dental assistant as needed
- Train staff in utilization of dental personal protective equipment
- Train new dental assistants and complete their competencies for review
- Ensure proper operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventory and evaluating new equipment and techniques
- Oversee and ensure that Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are up to date and NIOSH testing are completed
- Monitor and maintain the monthly data logs for ICC
- Interpret and train other dental assistants of the change in SDSs
- Demonstrate an understanding of the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- College Degree or equivalent with three years of experience in dental field required
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Certified Dental Assistant preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and medical/dental electronic software
- Bilingual in English/Chinese preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: $65,000.00 - 70,000.00 per year
