Role Overview:
The Superintendent at Charles Construction Company Inc. plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of our job sites. This position is responsible for supervising subcontractors and field personnel, ensuring safety, quality control, and schedule adherence across multiple commercial construction projects. The Superintendent ensures projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in line with company standards and client expectations.
- Direct day-to-day supervision and coordination of subcontractors and tradespeople on job sites.
- Maintain job site safety and enforce company and OSHA safety protocols.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with construction documents, specifications, and project schedules.
- Prepare and update three-week look-ahead schedules weekly.
- Lead and facilitate weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Manage job site logistics including utility coordination, site access, noise and dust control, and uninterrupted operations for clients.
- Conduct regular quality control inspections and ensure high construction standards are maintained.
- Submit detailed daily field reports via Procore or other project management platforms.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager on progress meetings, scheduling, and issue resolution.
- Maintain punch list and oversee project closeout procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures.
- Document and maintain field records, RFIs, change orders, and daily job photos.
- Represent Charles Construction Company professionally at all times on site.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 5 years of supervisory experience in commercial or industrial construction.
- Strong working knowledge of construction processes, codes, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in construction scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR certifications preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including occasional weekends, as required.
- Active Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License
This is a full-time position. Work is primarily performed on-site at project locations. While most travel is local and within normal business hours, some out-of-area or overnight travel may be required based on project needs.
