As a Retail Sales Associate, you will engage and connect with our customers by providing phenomenal customer service that contributes to the store’s sales and profits. You will always put the customer first, be an expert in product and use this expertise to educate, inform, inspire and outfit the customer. You’re expected to create an environment that is easy for our customers to shop, offer information to the customer on current merchandise assortment, store promotions and events, and execute operational processes effectively and efficiently. Our goal is to bring our store to life for our customers while building loyalty and delivering with productivity.
This role will work in accordance with Charles Department Store standards, policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Year round availability needed
- 1-3 days per week, 7-21 hours a week, 5-8 hour shifts
- Saturday availability IS A MUST, Sundays in November & December only
- Days per work will vary and will NOT be the same from week to week, scheduling is done 1-2 months in advance
- Specialty retailing experience preferred.
- Proficiency operating computer systems, typing, utilizing the internet, and learning our point-of-sale system.
- Requires ability to move about in a store including standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders or step stools, using stairs, carrying, bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching out with the body, arms, or legs, pulling and lifting objects up to 25 pounds. Sometimes these movements are made quickly and repeatedly.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Actively greet and engage with our customers on the sales floor to provide the best customer experience.
- Become an expert in the merchandise we sell, sharing expertise with every customer who walks through our doors, allowing us to provide a premium customer experience.
- Maintain professional appearance that reflects the Charles Department Store image.
- Acknowledge and assist customers; locate merchandise efficiently using various methods; answer questions quickly and accurately.
- Support in the maintenance of a neat and tidy sales floor to ensure a positive shopping experience inclusive of folding, hanging, displaying, and merchandising garments to maximize selling opportunities.
- Unload and log deliveries, receive, open, and unpack merchandise and label merchandise.
- Actively process, stock, and replenish inventory on the sales floor and stock room.
- Seek information about all new arrivals, including product knowledge about fit, color, model specifics, etc.
- Ring on the register, tag sales to customer profiles, handle all required transactions, issue receipts, and wrap gifts when necessary.
- Ensure exceptional selling interactions that guarantee meaningful experiences and build customer relationships.
- Follow all procedures and routines regarding safety, security, and administrative processes in all areas of the store.
- Share your knowledge and skills with your colleagues, offering help where needed to build a positive working environment.
